The above warning is required for items sold in the state of California. CHI Brass Mouthpieces have not been tested by the state of California. Yes, the brass that any mouthpiece is made of contains some amounts of lead to assure consistency; however, quality silver and or gold plating encapsulates the brass preventing any contact. All of our CHI Brass mouthpieces are made by master craftsmen and plated in the USA to assure the highest standards. If a quality mouthpiece such as a CHI Brass, is damaged or after years of use the plating starts to wear thin the mouthpiece should be replaced or replated immediately.
