CHI Brass Jacobs 2 Tuba Mouthpiece
Legendary Sound. Modern Precision.
The CHI Brass Jacobs 2 Tuba Mouthpiece is one of the most versatile and sought-after mouthpieces in our lineup. Inspired by a historic Arnold Jacobs owned and frequently used mouthpiece, the Jacobs 2 delivers a rich, resonant sound with exceptional clarity, projection, and flexibility. Rim and internal dimensions are exactly from the original and the shell and shank options have been modernized. Its balanced characteristics allow players to produce a broad orchestral tone and low register growl when needed while maintaining the focus and articulation needed for solo, chamber, band, and symphonic performance.
Equally comfortable on large CC and BBb tubas as well as those that prefer a larger mouthpiece on F and Eb instruments, the Jacobs 2 has become a favorite among professional performers, educators, and serious students seeking a mouthpiece that combines warmth, efficiency, and musical versatility.
Heritage and Design
The Jacobs 2 is based on an original mouthpiece used by Jacobs and believed to have originated from a 1930s-era Helleberg design that was later modified through a skeletonizing process. CHI Brass carefully studied and recreated the playing characteristics of the original while updating the weight and shank dimensions for compatibility with modern instruments and players.
The result is a mouthpiece that captures the broad, colorful sound concept associated with Arnold Jacobs while offering the consistency and precision demanded by today's performers.
